BOOKS & TRAVEL: Virgin Trains introduce their 'Meet The Author' experience

London Art Scene from The Art Stop

Having good friends who live out of London can sometimes be a pain (sorry Paul and Jay), especially when I find myself on the London Euston to Manchester train for the upteenth time in a month, staring out at the grey clouds and wishing I could close my eyes and be there in seconds.

Thankfully, Virgin Trains have had a lightbulb idea (one I plan to enjoy in the next month or so) - they've launched book signings on their West Coast routes - meaning us passengers could be lucky enough meet our favourite authors and get our travel reads exclusively signed, on selected services.

Kicking things off last week was crime writer Jo Nesbo who appeared on the Glasgow service, much to the delight of a packed train. Still to come are women's fiction writer Joanna Trollope, lovely comedian Ruby Wax and more.

The signings will take place on Virgin's routes to Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool over the Autumn months and you can find out which routes and dates will feature your best-loved author by visiting http://www.facebook.com/virgintrains.

Tickets can be booked at www.VirginTrains.com.

Happy reading!
