Ten Classes at Ten Pilates... Part 1

Love London

So in a bid to tone up and get in shape, as I promise myself every summer and have yet to achieve, I have signed up for ten classes at TenPilates over the next few weeks. This is Part 1 of my Pilates Diary - stay tuned for more updates to come!

First and foremost, I hate the gym. With a burning passion. Always have, always will. (Same goes for sport, PE lessons at school, exercise in general...). I've never been the sort to try something and love it and become a fitness junkie - just not in my DNA - so if I was going to do a summer workout it had to be interesting. Treadmills and cross trainers will have me quitting within half an hour; I need to feel challenged and be pushed and the atmosphere of a group session is just right for that.

TenPilates was founded in 2007 by Joanne Matthews and David Higgins who first met in 2006 when Joanne was recovering from a car accident. Just over 6 years later, TenPilates now has six locations across London with over 50 staff.

Specialising in Dynamic Reformer Pilates, Ten's classes also extend to Cardiolates (think reformer and spin!), Pilates Circuits, HiiT (high-intensity interval training), TenBarre (using the ballet barre and a range of different equipment) PreNatal Pilates and Jumpboard - and intense mix of pilates and plyometrics.

I've got a packed schedule of classes, mixing reformer pilates with HiiT and TenBarre, over the next few weeks. I'm hoping they will set me on the path to lean limbs, a stronger core and improved flexibility - stay tuned for my next update!
