The Beauty Of The Drake's Factory Store In London

Mr Beer Man

Having a love for British heritage brand Drake's is a strange proposition for me considering I don’t have occasion to wear a tie very often. Maybe it’s the very fact that dressing ‘tie-smart’ is still something of a novelty? For anybody unaware of the brand, it produces a mix of blazers, knitwear, belts, socks, ties and pocket squares.

A historic company, they are moving from strength to strength on the back of their East London factory, which is not just home to the production of ties and pocket squares but to a discount factory store. Producing goods in London is a big deal for such a well-established company that sells all over the world – and no doubt the fact that the ties come with those Made in London credentials is part of the appeal.

Selling a range of past seasons products throughout the year at heavily discounted prices, the factory store on the aptly named Haberdasher Street is a gem. Call me peculiar, but beyond the blunt brilliance of the pricing, there’s something about buying a lasting product from the place it is made – you can even peer into the factory from the shop. While I’d stop short (just) of saying it’s a like walking around a gallery, Drake’s does a fine job of elevating the shopping experience above that of basic retail. Go now for some suave autumn additions to your tie rack - at bargain prices, of course.
