London Dog Blog – Paws for Coffee, Hampton Hill

Dogs in London - The London Dog Blog

Following a brisk walk around the wonderful Bushy Park, I used the Hampton Hill exit in search of some refreshment. Imagine my delight at discovering a brand new dog-friendly café just across the road.

Paws for Coffee is a small café with a very big heart. There are around eight tables (which are delightfully constructed with scaffolding-type legs) and it was literally full of dogs and their happy owners – some couples, lots of families.

You do need to keep your pooch on a lead – otherwise it would be pandemonium for the waiting staff who make a big fuss of every canine visitor – big or small. They even take photos (with permission of course).

Once seated, our order was taken. The coffee was excellent – and the large slice of Eton Mess sponge I had (it is Easter after all!) went down a treat. Talking of treats, as we chatted, each table was served with a plastic dish of complimentary pieces of sausage. The dogs loved it.
From the lower dog menu, one or two owners ordered doggachinos for their pets. These were lapped up enthusiastically.

Whilst the salt and pepper cruets were cat shaped, there are paw print decorations across the ceiling and dog shaped items elsewhere (we liked the nearby Dachshund clock with the tail that ticked/wagged).

What a glorious place. I’m so fed up with cafes that make you shiver outside in the cold if you have a dog companion (there are tables outside Paws for Coffee too if the weather is fine). These people positively encourage dogs. And during our visit we must have met around eight lovely dogs.

Let’s hope other High Streets get the message.
