While luxury hotel spa treatments are always a pleasure, I'm a firm believer in having a failsafe local option to fall back on when the budget doesn't quite allow an afternoon at The Corinthia. My home turf of Clapham is a veritable hotbed of beauty bars, yet I always fall back on my favourite, not to mention most local, given that it's literally at the end of my road.
So Me has everything you need to be a one stop beauty shop. For the three and half years I've been a resident of SW4 it's become my go-to for the essentials - brows, nails and pre-Ibiza spray tans being my mainstay - but it was only recently that I visited for a 'treat' treatment, an indulgent Saturday morning massage. I went for an aromatheraphy, though in hindsight my masseuse said it would be a good idea for me to come back for a deep tissue in the not so distant future, such were the knots in my back. Nevertheless it was a delightful experience, gorgeously relaxing and even more satisfying knowing I could float home afterwards and be back on my sofa in about three minutes flat.
With a menu of options including Swedish, aromatherapy, hot stone, deep tissue, Indian head and neck, back & shoulders, it's a massage lover's dream. Prices start from £30 up to £95 for an 85 minute deep tissue and with two branches in Clapham High Street and Clapham Junction it's definitely one worth adding to your little black book or you're anywhere in the vicinity.
