London's very first Japanese Aroma Bar has just opened as part of MUJI's newly refurbished space within Selfridges/
The 150 square metre concession is home to the brand's very first Aroma Bar in the UK, allowing customers to create their own custom blends of aromatherapy fragrances to be used with MUJI's aroma diffuser, ceramic oil burner or unglazed stones.
An aroma expert will always be on hand to help customers create their tailor-made scent solution, whatever the need, from comfort and relaxation to concentration and refreshment. Invited to the launch last week, I took up the offer of a custom scent consultation and came away with a delightful concoction which has been filling my house ever since.
With a wealth of oils to choose from - including florals, citrus and woody scents - I selected a base of patchouli (a warm, spicy and woody oriental fragrance, grounding and balancing the mind), a middle note of geranium (a rosa floral aroma with slight green undertones, that balances the emotions and brightens your mood) and a top note of sweet orange (a sweet, bright, calming citrus aroma). You'll be surprised at what you like; it very much depends on which scents work with which others and, like me, you may well end up with a totally random combination that somehow just works.
