Soho's Hairclubbing Salon

Love London

Hairclubbing? I have to admit I too was intrigued when I first heard the word, but it all makes perfect sense. Blade really is a salon like no other and their hairclubbing has been touted as the lifestyle trend you never knew you needed.

Situated in the heart of Soho, Blade has clearly got that special kind of cool DNA you only find in W1. The brainchild of Soho hairdressing A-lister Julia Olofsson, the salon has the vibe of a buzzing house party, offering a menu of cuts, colours and treatments alongside a meticulously created drinks list. With a cafe as you walk in the door as well as a subterranean bar, you can enjoy a tipple from the comfort of your chair, while catching up on Netflix on your chair’s very own iPad, or park yourself at the bar. The drinks list features cocktails, biodynamic wines, craft beers, whiskies and signature serves curated by Julia’s husband, Stroo D.T. Olofsson. From Ethiopian Sidamo Arabica, Japanese ceremonial Matcha and fresh cold-pressed juices to their own limited craft beer bottlings created in partnership with Harviestoun brewery, premium bourbons unavailable in the UK and rare single malts selected and brought back from US and Scotland by Stroo and Julia personally.

Convenience is key; appointments can be booked via the app and walk ins are welcome. It’s the perfect location - and vibe - to get the party started if you’re heading from desk to dance floor and they are more than accommodating to groups, pairings and parties, the whole salon can even be rented out if that tickles your fancy.

I visited recently for a pre-party blow dry on a Saturday afternoon, where I stepped into a vibrant space accompanied by some fabulous 50s jazz tunes. Considering I’d recently had hair extensions, my stylist was really careful to ask in detail about my hair and what I can and can’t use on it, and was super gentle when styling it. Accompanied by a really rather wonderful espresso Martini, it was the perfect start to my birthday party night and I left with a seriously big and bouncy barnet.
