Wonderful as the idea of a London staycation is, it can be hard to justify the cost of spending a night in your home city, particularly at this time of year. Which is exactly why you ought to set an alarm for 9am on Monday to catch a very special deal.

The iconic boutique Blakes Hotel is offering guests that chance to book one of 40 rooms available for just £40 a night this month, in celebration of its 40th birthday. Nestled down a quiet South Kensington side street, Blakes was one of the first boutique hotels in the world when it opened its doors in 1978. With 45 rooms styled by Anouska Hempel, the hotel boasts a Matthew Williamson-designed courtyard, as well as a Mediterranean-influenced menu at Blakes Restaurant and evening tipples at Blakes Below.

The rooms will be available first come, first served basis by calling 020 7370 6701 or emailing, bookable between 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday. Terms and conditions apply and reservations will be limited to one booking per person.
