Your new favourite facialist

Love London

Sometimes you come across something that really leaves you torn, in the sense that it's so marvellous half of you wants to shout it from the rooftops, but then you kind of want to keep the secret to yourself lest you never being able to get an appointment again...

I recently visited a new facialist in Mayfair which left me in exactly that quandary. The award-winning Daiva Beauty House is housed on the first floor of Mayfair Aesthetics and Beauty, minutes from Bond Street. The lady herself, Daiva Kamysova, has over 13 years experience in the beauty industry in Paris, London and Lithuania and offers a range of treatments including her bespoke 'DB Facial' using leading skincare brand Environ.

Within moments of arriving she'd spotted the telltale signs of my dehydrated skin and after explaining my quandary of teenage breakouts mixed with 30-something fine lines and wrinkles, Daiva was convinced her bespoke approach would work wonders on my skin.

The point of difference that set this apart from other facials I've tried wasn't just the extractions (slightly painful and uncomfortable but dear God were they good), but Daiva's approach to the serum phase of the treatment. Application of the serums was followed by a freshly mixed rubber mask which covered the face and set in a facial sarcophagus (hence the slightly creepy photo...), before gentle, buzzing electric currents were passed through it in order to push the serums deeper in to the dermis. Fascinating and ever so slightly tingly.

After just an hour in her hands there was a noticeable improvement in the tone and texture of my skin. My puffy eyes seemed to open wider, my cheekbones felt lifted, my skin visibly plumped and nowhere near as dehydrated as it had been 60 minutes previously. I'm not sure exactly what she does with those golden fingers of hers but it was worth every penny.

So there we have it. The secret I didn't want to share but because I'm such a lovely person I did just that. You're welcome.
