Open since 1968, the Bloomsbury Theatre is owned by University College London, therefore for 12 weeks of the year the theatre devotes its programming to student productions. The rest of the year it hosts a mixture of live music, musicals, drama, comedy, ballet and even opera, making it a highly eclectic theatre. Notable performers have included Ricky Gervais, Jo Brand and Eddie Izzard. It has a capacity of 535 people, and ticket prices usually start from around £12, however certain shows have standing tickets available at a cheaper price if you can bear to stay on your feet. In terms of refreshment, both levels of the theatre have licenced bars.
