One of London’s royal parks, Bushy Park is second only to Richmond in terms of size. As with most of the capital’s parks this was once a hunting ground, in this case favoured by Henry VIII, who lived at the adjacent Hampton Court Palace. Red and fallow deer can still be seen grazing here, and there are a few other species of wildlife like water voles and hedgehogs, albeit in dwindling numbers. Aside from providing visitors with 445 hectares in which to relax, there are a few things to see and do: look out for the pretty bronze sculpture of the goddess Diana set on a marble and stone fountain in a lake and the collection of Baroque-inspired cascades at the Upper Lodge Gardens. Additionally there are is a playground for children and a café.
