Gas holders, those huge steel structures used to generate gas, have been part of the British landscape since the 19th century. But when natural gas was discovered in the 60s they started to become useless. The developers behind the unstoppable transformation of King's Cross came up with the smart idea of transforming the local gas holder into a park. They dismantled the whole construction before re-building it into a modern frame that now holds a pretty lawn overlooking the Regent's Canal. While during the day it's a green space for visitors to relax in, the plan is for it to hold events at night.
