This museum is housed in a former fire station, with some of the original 1870s fire engines on displayed. There is plenty to learn about here, from what the ‘beer-oh’ call means to the impact the Great Fire of London had on the history of British firefighters. There is also a reproduction of the gear room of a Victorian fire station for visitors to see what being a fireman entailed back in the 19th century. There is plenty to entertain the youngest members of the family; while climbing into the vehicles isn’t allowed due to their age, they can still have fun trying on firefighter uniforms. To visit you need to book a guided tour, which cost £5 per adult and £3 per child.
