Southside Wandsworth Shopping Centre

Wandsworth’s indoor shopping centre is one of the largest in London, and has a large selection of high street retailers. Before becoming a shopping mall the site was home to the Wandsworth Greyhound Stadium, which was eventually demolished to make way for the mall. It went through a period of decline until the 1990s when the local area started to become gentrified, attracting shoppers. To accommodate the new surge in custom the centre was renovated in 2000 and a multi-storey car park was added along with a 20-storey block of flats just south of the complex, and there are further plans to create more space for shops and flats. In terms of shopping, there is fashion from New Look, Next, Primark and TK Maxx, health and beauty shops like Body Shop, Superdrug and Holland & Barrett, phone shops and stationers as well as Virgin Active gym and Cineworld cinema. There are plenty of options for eating, including Asian food, steaks, and popular chains like Nandos, Greggs, Pizza Hut and McDonalds. The shops open till 9 pm from Monday to Saturday, however the cinema remains open till midnight.
