The Saatchi Gallery was opened in 1985by Charles Saatchi, known initially for his global advertising agency, but more recently also for his passion for and nuture of contempory art through sponsorship of Young British Artists (YBAs) such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin for example.
His gallery contains his huge and changing collection of art and it is open to the public. After occupying premises of a disused paint factory in North London it moved to the County Hall on London's Southbank and most recently has moved again to its current premises on the Kings Road, occupying the Duke of York's HQ, near Sloane Square. The Gallery also has a book shop, educational facilities and a café/bar.
