Trent Park

The woodland that is now known as Trent Park was once used as hunting grounds for the monarchs, dating as far back as the times of Henry VIII. Today you can still spot rabbits, pheasants and deer meandering between its imposing trees, making it a popular park with nature lovers and those who just enjoy peaceful, leafy landscapes, as well as joggers and cyclists. Dr Jebb, who was given the park by King George III, had a country estate built here designed by William Chambers, the same architect responsible for Somerset House. More recently it was owned by Middlesex University, however the house is currently closed until there is a new buyer. It’s still possible to walk through the grounds though, which boast formal gardens and ornamental lakes. Located on the outskirts of north London, the Trent Park’s car park is free but it is also easily accessible by tube.
