Davy's

Davy's is a chain of wine bars and restaurants where a wide range of wines and champagnes can be found as well as traditional English food. The Bishop Of Norwich is a City institution, as is the doorman who stands on the street outside. There is the choice of upstairs or downstairs venues. Downstairs is standard Davy's wine bar style, but venture upstairs to enjoy a restaurant offering a traditional menu of fine English food. The wine list, as in all Davy's outlets, is extensive and offers value.

This is the ideal place to entertain foreign customers. Olde worlde decor and tremendous ales. But the secret is how they are served, a large copper pitcher to decant the ales into pewter mugs. I was expecting Geoffrey Chaucer to walk in.
Marvellous!

No doorman. But if you like sitting down with friends in olde england (who cares how real such a place is) then its great.

Ale in pewter(sp) Tankards, sawdust on the floor and good davies beer - but watch out with the stronger version.

Really fine when it's peeing down, or wintery. You scamper off moorgate, decend to the cellar and enter that snug pub with a beer in hand feeling. And you can tumble out to the tube just next door.
