All In London Review

Barfly continues to offer unpretentious, music-loving experiences

Camden’s Barfly has been nurturing young talent since 1996, playing host to many once-upon-a-time unknown bands performing here before going on to sell out stadiums, such as Stereophonics and Coldplay. Fittingly, Camden has always been its home, however it has moved venues several times before settling into its current home on Chalk Farm Road, opposite the Stables Market.

As with any good rock ‘n’ roll venue the bar looks grungy and rough round the edges, the drinks are served in plastic cups and you won’t find any fancy cocktails, not that you would come here hoping to be served a martini.

The downstairs has seating and a bar; occasionally DJs play here, though most of the action is upstairs, where the stage is located.

Ticket prices vary depending on the night, but are rarely over the £10 mark. It’s not a huge space and popular events can sell out quickly; depending on the night it is possible to witness moshing, frenetic dancing, or simple, chin-stroking appreciation.

Staff, bouncers and generally speaking the people in attendance are a friendly bunch, making a visit to the Barfly an unpretentious, laidback music-loving experience for all concerned.
