Hidden beneath Waterloo Station lies 30,000 square feet of unused railway vaults, a labyrinth of mystical tunnels. Fast becoming London’s leading underground arts venue, The Old Vic Tunnels is in an excellent location; close to the London Underground and the Southbank. Five cavernous tunnels including a purpose built screening room create a blank canvas for events such as theatre, live music, cabaret, cinema and just about everything else in between.

With a total capacity of 850 people and excellent meeting room facilities it makes it one of central London’s largest venues. Unusual, edgy, and full of urban chic we are a space like no other and with over 80 different productions and events having taken place within the last year. These range from a BBC Jubilee Rolf Harris pop up gallery, a visit from Bill Clinton, a new musical and the legendary Tom Jones performing for our 2012 Summer Fundraiser. One of our most recent and popular events was a co-production with Everyman Cinemas where we created a pop-up cinema in the tunnels accompanied with a New York streetscape and disco dancers for Saturday Night Fever.

Having recently won the Big Society Award and the Royal Society of Public Health’s Award for an Outstanding and Innovative Contribution to Arts and Health Practice award for new musical Epidemic, The Old Vic Tunnels continue to thrill, excite, educate, entertain and inspire everyone from kids to granddads. Still to come in 2012 are our own Halloween festivities, Wahaca’s Day of the Dead Festival and our Christmas 2012 season: The Northern Lights. Despite this write up the only way of truly discovering what The Old Vic Tunnels is like is by experiencing them for yourself.
