The Meyrick Arms must once have been a downtoearth and basic locals' pub - indeed it seems to have been a bit of a music venue at one time. However it has fallen on very hard times and it is now a dismal, battered place that can surely not be long for this world. Around the back of Clapham Junction station, it is even less pleasant than the soubriquet 'station pub' suggests. The furniture is ripped and torn, the ceiling leaks. No doubt some time someone will buy it up, gut it and turn it into a restaurant. It is hard to talk at length about this public house without possibly falling foul of the 'do not post anything offensive' rule - but an objective review of the Meyrick must conclude that it is among the most unpleasant pubs in London.
