The George has recently undergone a poshification, being brightened up with a lot of your standard wannabe gastro-pub touches. There’s a nice open fire and squashy sofas, and trendy popcorn available.
The draught beer selection is much better than before, with for instance Sambrook’s and Camden Town brews on tap, as well as a large craft bottled beer menu. The wine list is pretty big too.
Food is the big thing here now, with a large part of the space now an eating area and a very nice-sounding though perhaps a tad pricey menu. On a Saturday lunchtime it was chocka with young families.
Formerly The Rat & Parrot, The George is a large pub with plenty of seating and areas at the front and back to sit outside during the summer months. Food is served and it gets particularly busy when there is a football match on.
