The Fitzroy Tavern is an old Victorian pub, historically popular with now famous artists and writers. Today, it maintains literary links with the Writer's Bar downstairs and still attracts many noted faces from public life. With plenty of seating there is a lively but relaxed feel to the pub. Food can be eaten outside or inside with choices from a traditional pub menu. They can cater for private parties of up to 30 guests in their function room.

Tread in the steps of greatness

Orwell and Dylan Thomas used to work at the nearby BBC and Virginia Woolf would also stop in on occasions. The pub was a melting pot of literary talent then, not so much anymore.

Great pub, great food, great staff, apart from the misery bar man who needs to get a life or the sack, had a very bad attitude to his customers for some reason, if he doesn't like the job he should go somewhere else, apart from that had a great evening thanks regards Cliff

lovely pub! great ambience and really tasty and reasonably priced pints. however, the quiche we had had frozen and cold spots inside, took over 30 mins and when I told the waiter about it he merely rolled his eyes and mumbled something while walking away. as I said, great pub, but would expect a bit more attention to food preparation and waiting staff that at least pretends to care about customer feedback.

Recently travelled from ireland. Went to visit this pub as my mum worked there almost 40 years ago. She met my dad there who also worked in it. We asked staff if we cud take photo of my mum behind the bar pulling a pint and they were very accommodating. Food was lovely. Overall a Great place to eat and have a great pint of cider. Will definitely be back.

Quality food at this pub. Usual selection of beers, some good choices of real ales, and at prices about what you'd expect for a central london pub. If the weather's good, sit outside.
