All In London Review
A decent place to drink, watch sport and enjoy a huge pub garden.
Located over the road from Peckham Rye Park, the pub has an enviable location and judging by the crowds that fill it at weekends, this reviewer’s opinion isn’t one shared by everyone in these parts. A proper countrified pub with a semi-gastro menu, the Rye is made for groups. Big , loud groups. And with one of the best beer gardens in South London – it’s huge – the Rye is also made for summer. We drink Brooklyn lager from the reasonable selection of beer available and eat a good quality pub burger to tide us through the Peckham pub-crawl that we are currently just beginning on this visit.
A smart, recently refurbished pub, The Rye is nothing special but neither is it one to be avoided if you want a decent place to drink and watch sport. The best way to sum it up is probably to say that it feels like it belongs in a different part of London, Clapham perhaps? Depending on your viewpoint that’s either a good thing, a bad thing, or maybe it means nothing at all.
