The Angel

This is how pubs should be, friendly, personal and purveyors of real ale and the Angel does all of this. While not a fan of sports channels in pubs it is in the background and can be easily ignored. Mine host Brendan will greet you with a very genuine Irish charm or one of his other friendly staff members and he will remember your name and the beer that you drink. He stocks a good range of malts too and if you have to descend to a lager then the posh ones (if that's possible) are there. Clientèle are also friendly and are a mix of local people, local professionals and people like us visiting on business (in my case) or holiday. It is near to the Wesleyan Chapel and cemetery where such worthies as Robinson Crusoe's creator reside (so to speak) and that's worth a visit too. Its all just on the edge of the square mile so not a challenge to most people's itinerary. I came across it entirely by accident while strolling to my hotel.
