All In London Review
Whitechapel’s finest
When all else closes around you and there’s nowhere left to go, Indo’s the place. Just wider than a canal boat, the mixture of odd new artwork and traditional ceramic tiles updates old with new, but the size means you’ll have to slot yourself in between the few tables and bashed in leather sofas to get a place in the mismatched bar.
It opens until 3am on weekends and DJs play their rarest to impress the collection of music geeks, bands and know alls that gather. Hear anything from the Slits to Fugazi.
During the week it’s a little more restrained and manages to masquerade as a good little pizza bar complete with proper oven. The pizzas come as wholes or halves and the crispy sides and soggy centres are impressive. There’s a range of Italian classics and prices are good. The bar does a good selection, with the likes of Duvel in the fridge and further Belgian beers, Cristal and Kriek on draught as well as more standards.
Forever a favourite of anybody in the area with its mixture of attitudes appealing to all sorts, making it Whitechapel’s finest.

Best For
Our favourite East London bars
East London Bars: cooler than penguin piddle.
Indo is without doubt the wildest bar on Whitechapel Road. It’s a fact. The narrow bar has long been the toast of the area’s hip glitterati, along with anybody else that prefers excellent music and stone baked pizza to the less refined pubs on this East End strip.
All night long: London's best after-hours bars
After-hours bars make you feel like a dirty rotten stop-out... especially on a school night.
Open until 3am at the weekend, Indo can offer you all the sleazy, dive bar ingredients you can handle. Arty, grimy and so much fun that when it gets to closing time you’ll already be counting down the hours until next time.
Beer on a budget: London's best cheap bars
Nursing that half pint all night can be a thing of the past.
Whitechapel Road is fairly light on competition for cheap bars but were there other bars around, we have no doubt that Indo would be beating them down. It’s cheap – and unfortunately around £3.70 a pint is cheap in London these days – and it has a sublime music policy. Good pizza too.
