London's fanciest cocktail bars
The endearingly over the top Lounge Lover is a bar that makes like looking down the sight of a kaleidoscope. Giant swans, huge ceramic vases, metal cages and a cocktail menu that will have you licking the print on the page – yes, they sound that appealing.

venues with the Wow-Factor!
Lounge Lover presents something different for the senses at every turn and whether it’s a two metre-high ceramic vase or a table within a cage, it works. The dazzling Shoreditch cocktail bar attached to the restaurant La Trois Garcons backs up its aesthetics with great drinks too. Looks and personality, it really is the whole package.

Attached to the achingly suave restaurant Les Trois Garcons, Lounge Lover has a lot to live up to if it’s to steal a march on its more mature patron. Okay, it’s not a restaurant per se but it does serve food along with a whole range of appealing cocktails, which means that the two can be compared in some way or another. Anyway, moving on rapidly - because there’s so much to talk about – Lounge Lover shall be heavily praised because it is all a little bit excellent. Zany colours, oversized cocktail glasses and a level of explosive chic not seen since Stephen Sprouse met Louis Vuitton (apparently). But, let’s not get lost on the fashion of it all – this bar would impress even the gloomiest gloomster. Just dare to resist the temptingly stowed tables that offer intimacy amongst the messy décor and allow the occasion of the place get to you. Witness the exquisite exposed brick, anatomical paintings, gigantic ceramics and an incredible carved wood bar. Hyperbole? Pah…

The food is a good accompaniment to Lounge Lover, though it’s the cocktails that probably draw most people in. Japanese fusion is the word and the sushi sampled was perfectamundo, as the Japanese say. Bring a date to Lounge Lover if you’re out to impress, browse the menu and order for him/her to really impress. That’s being assertive. So, order the Prince of Wales if you want a short drink to start things off with a fizz. Created by spilling Hennessey cognac over a lemon soaked sugar cube and topped up with a little Lounge Lover Champagne. It’s supreme. If something a little more considered is on the agenda then the Old Fashioned is as good at Lounge Lover as anywhere – made with a choice of bourbon, rum or tequila. Prices are more than accessible for a venue that gives so much although service is (rightly) expected on drinks ordered from the table.
