Private Area

Located in Fitzrovia, Chinawhite is London’s most prestigious luxury members club.Long considered a pioneer in its field, Chinawhite combines it’s formidable heritage with a brand new distinct, progressive and modern approach.

‘Our thinking behind this club is, what is relevant now? As we rise from economic uncertainty, do people really want to leave their houses at 10pm and go to clubs that are nothing more than celebrity platforms?’ Comments Jeremy Hartley, Co-Founder and Managing Director. ‘We believe that is an out-dated concept. When you walk through our doors, you are taken care of in a very bespoke and service led way – a space to eat beautiful food, a space to dance and most importantly a space to spend time with friends. This, is relevant now.’

Inspired by Londons earliest clubs dating back to the 1920’s that entertained ‘outsiders and misfits’ Chinawhite is set to be a melting pot of creatives and independent thinkers. The club is newly located in a grade II listed building on Winsley Street, Fitzrovia, an area which in it’s day was regarded as the centre of artistic importance and home to literary royalty such as George Bernard Shaw, who frequented the infamous Fitzroy Tavern. The UFO Club was home to Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix played at Speakeasy and Bob Dylan debuted at the King and Queen pub, all of which creates the fabric of the area’s past. Likewise, the new Chinawhite guest is not defined by wealth but by a desire to exist outside of the ordinary and guests will come to the club to meet other like-minded people.

The restaurant serves a modern twist on classic Asian dishes such as Kung Pao chicken, sashimi tuna, blackened halibut, griddled watermelon and toasted ricotta salad as well as grilled foie gras with langoustine. The menu has been designed by chef Adam Penney who has been cooking in London’s gastro-pubs and fine dining restaurants for 14 years, notably the award-winning Horseshoe in Hampstead, Bibendum and The Lonsdale in Notting Hill.

Chinawhite is also proud to announce the arrival of Fatima Yashira, Ibiza’s most highly regarded VIP host.

‘Chinawhite defines a new era in nightclubs. This is unlike any other club you have been to : it’s intellectual nightlife, the insider’s insider. And just to be clear …. this club will not make you famous.’ Comments John Stephen, co-founder and Chairman.

Brilliant night !!! They told us to arrive early because it was going to be busy so we turned up just after it opened and walked straight in. Its twenty quid to get in which is quite a lot but there are different rooms you can go in with different music the bouncer even let us into the vip which was amazing and the best room. My friend bought a bottle of vodka and the manager of the bar got us seats behind the bar. Lots of people everywhere but next time we want a table in the vip.

Very rude staff and certainly put themselves to shame in front of a group birthday celebration after the waitress started yelling at the birthday girl that there was a second sitting and we must leave our table amidst desert and drinking. Amazing and still at shock...

Manager did not help much either by pulling the birthday girl to the side on her way to the club to rudely even dare to advise her that he had tracked CCTV footage of when we arrived. So what?! They didn't bother to check the footage on when our orders were taken or how long we waited for food though. Also birthday present went missing after it was stored in cloakroom... Not good... Absolutely no manners and rubbish service.

I really love this place, been going for about 5 months and we always have a blast.
The staff at the door know me now and they make sure we never queue. We love it and are going again this weekend.

One star is generous - this place is nasty!
Everyone is on the pull - this is no place for couples - just groups of girls in tacky, shiny cocktail dresses and groups of men pretending they are 'out with the boys' when really, they are there because at this tiny venue, body to body contact is guaranteed...
Grim.

China White's is let down by grumpy bar staff and overzealous door staff. Went on a Thursday night so not exactly heaving in there, 20 quid entry, 55 quid for 5 drinks from a barman that looked like I'd insulted his family. He didn't even raise a smile when I leant over the bar to confirm that I'd heard the price correctly.
Bouncer escorted my friend out for being too drunk 5 mins after he'd decided he was fine to come in, a female friend asked why he was being thrown out and was asked to leave for 30mins for some fresh air, needless to say we all left.
The cloakroom lady was very friendly, not enough to make it worth going back though! The venue is nicely decorated, it's over priced, but if they can sort out the staff, could be a good place.
That said, if you want a really great weekend out partying, fly to Europe and get away from a restrictive and unfriendly London.

China White is so disgraceful!!! Our two ladies requested to be put on guest list via all in London and got the confirmation email from a lady called Simba with the information of lady free entry before 11pm. We turned up at the club at 1030pm Saturday and was told that terms and condition had changed and we need to pay 20 pounds each to gain entry.

What a complete waste of our time!China White,Lady Simba, you are disgusting!!!

went to the new chinawhite twice last week, and randomly was in the company of kate moss on the thursday and saw a spectacular dj set from sam ronson on the saturday.... amazing to see how the venue looks and how different the crowd has moved form the old 'ballers and glamour model' crowd of old.... loving seeing a clubbing mecca/institution back to its former glories.... definately worth seeing once... as week!!!!
Have your say
