The Globe

The staff were uninterested and unhelpful. Our server zoned out when at pre 9am we asked what breakfast juices were available. We were told that they are out of smoothies. I ordered toast with butter and jam. Another in my party ordered the steak and eggs that came with grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and breakfast potatoes. She did ask for no eggs. Our coffees arrived and we had to go find our own sugar. The steak arrived with mushrooms and chips. My toast was put down as "a side" for the steak. I said the toast was mine and asked again for butter and jam. The server was not happy with that. I was given 1 slice of toast, had thought that I would've got 2. We asked the same server about why we were given chips and not breakfast potatoes and what happened to the tomatoes. We were told that we would have to talk to the manager. He said that the server should've told us that they had no tomatoes or breakfast potatoes. No apology was given. We were then asked if we wanted him to cook something further - we declined as we already had the food.
The bill was put down while we were still finishing our drinks. There wasn't anyone waiting for our table. We asked if the bill would be reduced as we didn't get the eggs or tomatoes that were included in the price. We were given a dirty look before the server left to speak to his manager. We then received a reduction of £1.30.
The table next to us were given no sugar or teaspoons with their coffees.
The service wasn't good and the dirty looks and bad attitude was to a whole new level that I have never seen in a restaurant before.
We apologised to the Americans at the next table and tried to reassure that this is not standard service in UK.
