The Horniman At Hays

On arrival we were met with a welcoming atmosphere, however as the night progressed, the staff made the evening rather unpleasant. The foreign waiter was difficult to understand but more than that, he was rude and didn't know the menu at all. When requesting the bill, we had a slight problem regarding currency, but could not understand the waiter (compounded by the fact that we are ourselves foreign), so we requested the manager. The manager arrived at our table and was very agressive. She did not ask what the problem was, instead just shouted and started to become sarcastic. We are not from this country and were shocked to be treated so badly in a pub which is meant to be somewhere traditional to go when you are a tourist to a new country. Staff should be aware that there would be tourists and be understanding that we may not know everything about the laws and policies of this country. I was very disappointed and would certainly not recommend the pub to any overseas visitors.
