Why respond?
At All In London we don't want business owners to feel helpless about negative reviews but at the same time we don't want to delete genuine comments from customers. In our experience the best way to ensure that the business's reputation is maintained is to openly respond to negative reviews, this can turn the situation around in your favour and show other users that you're not unreasonable and are dealing with it professionally.

Here is an example of a business that has replied to a user comment: response example. In this example the business manager shows a professional and rational approach that would only serve to give new customers more confidence in the business.

The review in question

Booked weeks in advance, I took two Aprilia Mojito 125s to BMG for a service and MOT, one also had a clutch-slip/judder. When booked and deposited they were advised that we needed them long before close of business. Gone 2:30 and no-one had called. When I called the Service Manager was at lunch, but "he will call in a couple of minutes." Thirty five minutes later BMG called; "One has been MOT'd, but not serviced, the other has been serviced, failed the MOT, no clutch-slip, needs a tyre" They'd had the scooters for 7 hours and, "No, we can't change the tyre in the next thirty minutes." As usual, BMG had overbooked the amount of work they are capable of completing. Workshop practice is to book more work than time permits, with the mechanics earning a bonus if they can achieve more than the official manual says they should. Bottom line is a rush-job and/or not enough hours to do what needs to be done. Having been advised that both scoots would be serviced pre-MOT it transpires that they were MOT'd first because "those were the slots we were given by the tester". BMG told me that they MOT scooters; they don't. What they do is take them to a testing station further up the road, and apparently don't even pre-book. The final stab-in-the-back was that when we arrived to collect our scooters the service manager (a term to be loosely applied) was at lunch (some hour plus after my first call, when I was advised he was at lunch), and his deputy service manager argued that they had done nothing wrong and it wasn't their fault. A bad workman always blames his tools... I booked with BMG because they advertise that they are specialists. BMG are as bad as any other, possibly wore. I will never give them any business, and I told them so. Beware, and steer clear.
