First you've got your stacks of wax. Then you've got your cocktails. Plus you've got beers. Put it together and what you have is a basement record-shop-bar-Transformer in the depths of the Bussey Building. Marvellous.

Beers, cocktails and record shopping all in one basement
Simple, understated and concrete, Rye Wax is so European it hurts (think Café 1001 on Brick Lane and you’re close). We like that. We like that it’s a proper inclusive, inviting, attitude-free spot. The Four Pure beer isn’t our favourite but the happy hour is appealing. The Vietnamese street food from Banh Banh looks great. And the events calendar is about as eclectic as Peckham itself. Rye Wax is the kind of place that easily turns your afternoon into a night out; get in early afternoon for a record dig, hit the comics, move to the bar for cocktails and Vietnamese and then stay through for the DJs. That’s how we did it, anyway, sucked in by the DJs.
Sadly, if developers get their way the whole Bussey Building nightlife microcosm might go the way of so much before it. So make the most of Rye Wax and if you want, voice your opinion to Southwark Council.
