Proper hardware store with proper people. My daughter recommended them to me ( you know you're getting old when this role reversal takes place ).
Andy went way beyond by sorting out bits and fitting them to a broken door handle, so that I ended up with a matching pair that match all our other doors. Much appreciated.

The staff are always helpful, with suggestions are what would be useful for the task in hand, even altering the length of a screw for the handle of a cafatiere when it was needed. Much of the stock is unpackaged, so buy as much/as little as you need.
Please use this shop to make sure that it keeps in business.

Proper old-fashioned hardware shop.

It's like an Aladdin's cave of pretty much any kind of hardware you could every need or want. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Just read the reviews here, they are true... !

It's a absolutely brilliant old style hardware store with great people who know what they are selling and know about what they are selling and so they can help and advise customers.

Let's keep supporting Wakefield's with our custom.

This is simply the best hardware store I have ever come across. Andy is absolutely "on the ball" on all his materials and how to use them. I will make sure that everyone I know is aware of this Alladins cave for "makers and repairers". The photograph elsewhere in these reviews is just a hint of what is available. Lets make sure we support them!

A wonderful place. Hard to imagine any piece of hardware they can't find for you.

Have made a few visits here for screw/nuts/washers I've needed for clock repair and railway modelling, always have what I need. There are masses of open boxes with all the fixings you can imagine, everything from 2mm screws to Whitworth nuts, just look round and pick out the ones you need. Lots of other hardware available too. Just hope this shop stays open, you can't get this stuff anywhere else in the area.

Great oldstyle hardware - ironmongery store I've been going to for 50 years. They have all sorts of nut and bolts all out on display you can wander round and chose yourself. Went in the other day for a thead coupler I couldn't even find on the internet. The guy made me one on the spot one with a tapping machine. Fantastic.

I used to go in here as a boy with my Dad when he had a project on the go
and I have used then ever since. Although I do not live locally now, I always
pop in when I am in the area, even just for a look. A true Aladins Cave of
those hard to find bits and nothings in a packet (fantastic)

Visited the shop yesterday for the first time and wasn't expecting the Aladdin's Cave that I found! Old-fashioned, in the best sense: excellent customer service, excellent product knowledge and wide-ranging stock. It's the sort of shop that you go into for one thing but come out with many more purchases. I resisted the temptation to ask for "four candles"! A highly recommended shop.

I have used Wakefields for over 25 years for screws, bolts, handles and anything
for cabinet making and general DIY. Their stock is great and contains many hard to find items.
