Terrible service, rude and most of the staff have very limited knowledge of the products they sell. the Goodge Street branch is exactly the opposite with polite, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Leyland should sort this out or loose customers to cheaper more professional local outlets.

I was recently shocked by the price of Viakal limescale remover spray at the Camden Road branch in London.
Nearby in Sainsbury's its priced at £2.00 and in Leylands SDM, £5.99.
I spoke to a few of the workers and they didnt really have much to say.

Camden Town,..A very busy shop. A godsend for just about anything you want.
I’ve read some of the rubbish revues on here, and honestly,...the reviewers must be total halfwits that need someone to hold their hand every step of the way.
On my last ten visits to Leyland SDM, the staff, once you catch their attention, (they are very very busy in a tightly packed shop) are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Because the staff are constantly on the move,..and rushed off their feet, I often began to wonder how they manage to be so positive and cheerful.
May I suggest to any genuinely disgruntled customer, to look up your issue on the internet and work out exactly what you need before walking into A Leyland SDM shop.
......once you know what you want, explain it to the staff member, and he/she will tell you what is available. The instructions on how to use it are on the tin,...or,...failing that,...on the web
Don’t expect the staff to be mind readers, div

First time the guy was friendly and helpful.

Each time since the staff have been openly hostile/rude. If you ask even a simple question, they stare at you and vaguely point in a direction. One guy (v tall, dead behind the eyes) told me to wait in a line to be helped. 10 minutes later he came back and said "I'm not going to serve if you stand there".

Will go back only if absolutely desperate.

I have been using this store since it first opened and although the change over of staff has been quite regular, I have always found them to be very friendly and helpful. If a member of staff couldn't help me with advise they always deferred to another member more expert. This is the only hardware store I know that employ female staff. In Camden where most of the shops are geared towards tourist paraphernalia this shop is a god send ever since Romany's - an equivalent shop - moved away from the high street.A very comprehensive stock for diy. Queuing to pay haphazard and could be improved.

Given bad advice about undercoating on freshly laid plaster. Result is that we have to sand down the walls and start again and use the advice given to us by friends and family, rather than the so-called 'professionals' employed here.

Won't be going here again. Needed to varnish a desk to cover up some scratches and they suggested using a sealer and wood dye. The sealer peeled off once dry, and the dye didn't cover the marks. They obviously aren't that knowledgeable.

LP claim a "specialist" status, which I could have agreed upon once upon a time when the employees were knowlegeable old timers. Its now host to KIDS who's limited DIY skills expand to painting grans lounge. I've sought advice for numerous projects ranging from painting floors to installing a dishwasher and on every occassion there is always something which is impossible, such as adapting narrow pipes into wider one. If it is not impossible, then the required tools don't exist such as a 'Y' joint to install a dishwasher next to a washing machine. Advice: educate yourselves on your merch

Great service every time I go in, which is quite a bit of late. Seem to be very knowledgeable.

Awful customer service, a can't be bothered attitude, unhelpful. A rather unpleasant experience all in all. Would definitly not recommend.

Whenever i've been in this store, which admittedly is limited, the staff have consistently been unpleasant and unhelpful.

I went there at 4:30pm after work on Saturday to buy a toilet plunger. They were very busy and closing up in 20 minutes. I asked a guy which plunger is the best for toilets, he pointed to the Master Plunger. It was £9.05. I wanted to confirm it with the man I paid and he nodded. It just looked so different and I was skeptical it would work in a toilet. It was the most expensive one and it doesn't work! Brings it all up and splashes everywhere!

I googled it and it says it's designed for flat drains! I called them today, Sunday and they are not open. Not helpful at all. I don't think they know what they're talking about! I should have googled it before I went!
