Although I like the store and use it a lot, the service is poor!
There were 5 members of staff (including the store manager) behind the checkout counter, one counter open and 8 customers queuing. When commenting on slow service the Manger was summoned and he said aggressively they are „not a super market“ (irrelevant comment) and „ who do you think you are! Well, I am a customer commenting on slow Service, which in my book is still allowed. An apology and a friendly smile would have solved the issue.I think he needs to be thought how to deal with reasonable customer complaints. Generally I got the feeling he is running a very lax shift which ultimately has an affect on the generally friendly and helpful staff!

The lady on the till seemed more interested in her conversation with a colleague rather than make any attempt at verbal communication with me! I don’t expect much but I feel that a hello or a simple thank you would not be to much to ask!

In store please train staff to use the ordering system. Please pay attention to the customer instead of chatting between yourselves. Answer the phone and when you do, don't cut people off. Please deal with me on the phone instead of leaving me hanging on while I can hear you dealing with other customers. Placing the order was painful enough, the paperwork said 'please sign to accept the conditions overleaf' and there are no conditions overleaf. In spite of spelling my details out a number of times they were incorrect. The printer was obviously in need of replacement ink. After hanging on for over 5 minutes while they dealt with other customers (I could hear them), they cut me off. Homebase used to be SO good and now they are terrible. If I'd been able, I would have given them a minus. Won't be using again.

I feared I was also going to have the same problem of someone not picking up the phone - about to give up then they did - hurrah! and they had what I wanted, the guy even went and checked for me, then put them aside for me to pick up later - brilliant - open til 8 as well, so avoid the traffic. I have had exactly the same problem as the first reviewer - I am trying to contact them to find out whether they have something in stock and no matter which option I choose, no one answers and/or the line goes dead. Very frustrating.

Just tried to call Homebase to check whether something was available before I go there to pick it up - went through the 'press 1 for...etc' and those the option to speak to an assistant. it rang four times then the line went dead as though someone had deliberately ended the call. this happened twice. Maybe the staff need to report a fault on their telephone service?

every time I go they have so little stock of things, and are consistently poor on service
