I'm very disappointed with this place. We stopped for a quick espresso on the way to the Conran shop. I am a wheelchair user and, although the staff saw me, nobody came to open the door so that I could get through. We did it ourselves. I then ordered an espresso and noticed that it was sitting in the machine for a long time while the two members of staff dealt with other customers (the place was not busy). I asked how much it was and the young lady at the counter said that she did not know. I looked at the menu and saw that the price - when consumed inside - was £1.95. Pretty steep, but there are many other places that charge just as much. I send my friend over to pay with £2, and we were told that it was in fact £2.19 as the prices on the menu did not include service. When the espresso eventually arrived, it was so cold that it was unpleasant and I found it undrinkable, so we left £2.19 the poorer and without a decent espresso.
It it just possible that it is the coffee machine's fault and that it drips down so slowly that by the time it's finished the coffee is lukewarm, but maybe not. In any case, not a good place to get a decent espresso, especially at these prices.
I haven't tried anything else so I cannot comment on the rest of what is on offer, but the staff's attitude did not bode well so I doubt that I will be tempted to try. There are loads of other places around which we need to check out.
Part of the Conran chain, Orrery Epicerie serves a variety of gourmet ready-meals including rilettes of pork, duck and rabbit as well as savoury items from their charcuterie. A selection of devilish desserts are also available for those with a sweet tooth. Dried pulses and a small cafe area are also available.
