One of the worst experiences I've ever had when shopping in any Boots, or store for that matter.
I was looking to purchase two items behind the pharmacy. 1 was a medicated skin cream, the other was a (weak) pain killer. The young man who served me initially was professional and nice. The women pharmacist working there was the issue (she refused to give me her name but she was quite petite and had a strong accent).
She pressurised the young man to not sell me the painkillers, even when I explained/showed the medical condition they were being used to treat. I asked her why is she refusing the sale to treat this medical condition when it is explicitly mentioned on the manafacturers website that it's ok to use exactly for that condition (hence why I was asking for it). She didn't have an answer. She also wouldn't answer what medical conditions she felt was acceptable for treatment with the medicine. She recommended off the shelf medicines, which I would of have to have taken more of than the ones from behind the counter, potentially having a negative effect on my health. The aim is to take the smallest amount of medicine needed, she didn't seem to agree.
I personally felt she just didn't want them sold to me, for whatever strange reason. I went to a nearby Boots and had no problem purchasing the items I required (and the pharmacist serving there was a lovely friendly women - complete opposite).
Never setting foot in that store again and will tell all I know to do likewise.
Boots is a chain of chemists offering a wide range of general health and hygiene items as well as providing cosmetics, toiletries and medicines. They also sell camera film, travel essentials and a selection of sweets and snacks.
