The way they speak to customers, and the adding on of fees after being quoted something else. I am disabled and made my way up to the salon and was told that it wasn’t worth their time to do my hair.
I will never return and will never recommend. I was left with nothing, it was humiliating.
Fortunately I was able to find another hair dresser to do the style we had discussed that they refused to do which was a set and curl on natural hair.
I guess my custom was worth something elsewhere.

I gave them 3 because the first time I went there the young lady did a good job, but then I was charged and extra £40+ for the pleasure not told before hand.

It would be good if Hype at all their salons could stick to appointment time not keep customers waiting over an hour or more with no explanation it is only courteous.
Please could the owners ensure the staff at all levels do a good job on washing hair and scalp as often my hair is dirty afterwards it will flake onto my shoulders. I have been left with bits in my hair and told this is normal. Sometimes it is so rushed when I am there, I am tempted to wash my hair in advance as I no longer trust it will be clean enough. I don't have this issue when I wash it myself.
Prices have shot up by over 50% for a relaxer and my my stylist has not been promoted. The prices are different each time I go for a trim, wash or blow dry. Why is this? I use the same stylist.
The politics between the staff need to be reserved for when they are alone, I don't need to hear who doesn't like who over the sink - keep it professional.

Dear Client

Sorry to hear of the poor service which was given to you on your last visit to the salon.
I am so unhappy to hear of your treatment I am willing to offer you a free styling service please contact me on 020 72233 801 to book this appointment.
I am unsure on how there could be a price difference on your visits since the prices are on a dedicated computer but I am happy to go through your records and refund you any differences on your visits.
Prices last year were increased by 5% to 10% to keep pace with the increase in Product costs,Rent,Rates and Wages. I am unsure how you have suffered an increase of 50% but I am also willing to look at this with you to see if we can pin point the problem and rectify it.

I will address your complaints regarding waiting time and idol gossip at our next staff meeting, but I have to say that I am very surprised at this since our client waiting, processing time is something that we are proud of as well as our professionalism.

Kind Regards

Calvin Rattray

When I was young, my mum always took me to hype hairdressers, especially the branch in clapham junction, because they always have very friendly, bubbly and charismatic members of staff, and as a child you need a hairdresser that can keep you entertained whilst getting your hair done to the finest of styles.
Now, I'm turning 20, and have decided to make some crazy life changes to deal with insecurities ect.. I decided to cut off all my hair and have a natural low cut style. The staff at the clapham junction branch were absolutely amazing. Strangely I had a little break down because I couldn't believe that I was actually going through with the big chop, but they were so supportive, they were making me feel like its normal and everyone has to go through change ect... then when it came to getting my hair done, my hair stylist chelsea was sooo amazing, I got over 300 messages within that week about my hair cut and honestly dont regret it, one bit, so glad to have gotten my hair cut by

I wanted highlights and decided to go to a professional - as I knew it would be risky to try and achieve the honey blonde highlights on my own. Although the stylist made me feel comfortable I didn't leave with the colour I showed before hand (not even close). What I found MOST disappointing was I tried on 3 occasions to speak to management/colourist about correcting the colour. Each time I was reassured I would receive a call back. 3 weeks to date NOTHING! Definitely wouldn't recommend especially if you are natural. They have no training on how to blow dry it without ripping it out.

This was my first time at this salon, usually go to Junior Green. I was charged a lot more than originally quoted and the stylist did not take care with my hair, very DISAPOINTED!!!!!!.

The experience was not on the level of Junior Green. The salon needs updating, it is very old fashion compare to other top salons.

Second worst hair salon experience I have ever had.
1. Got charged £20 over what I was told would be the maximum price
2. Paid for a stylist, but stylist spent the whole time slowly taking 2 hours to straighten a young child's hair, so I had my hair done by an assistant while still paying the stylist fee plus an added on £20
3. In the end my hair did look horrible..yellow and multicoloured, which I had to go on a first date with.
Gave 1 star because he did offer to fix it but I was so scared to have him touch my hair again I just said forget it. Such a rip off

It was refreshing to visit a saloon where their interested in your hair's wellbeing rather than just taking your money.
Saw a lovely young lady call Michelle who advised me on the best solution for my hair. The staff were very presentable and friendly. I wish I knew about this saloon years ago and yes I will definitely be going back.
Next week in fact to have my second course of treatment.
I'm no longer a weave wearer (& proud of it) Michelle has made me appreciate my own hair again.
Thanks a lot Hype Coiffure can't wait for my next visit.

I have absolutely no idea why anything here has to do with being black or white. I am a 55 year old (white) female and have been using Hype for about a year now. I have found all the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful and we always have a laugh. I have never been made to feel out of place and if I did it would be due to my age NOT my race/colour. Great place for a really great hair cut xxxx

Wow! Read the last two comments and all I can say is ...WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!!!
I'm sorry, did you go to the same hairdresser? You must be confused! Hype is a SUPERB hairdresser and I must say that they are worth EVERY PENNY!
And for the whole "white thing" ...BULL**** they are not at all racsist as or biased when it comes to those things as you silently made them out to be, and that as a fact is becuase me being afro carribean when i leave there my hair flows ...if YOU wanna phrase it "like white peoples hair" !!! So cut the crap!
I personally must say since going there my hair stays constantly nurished, never have any split ends, never have dry scalp and their styles constantly impress me!
So if you are looking for a good hairdresser, i 100% recommend Hype without a moments hesitation! ... Cherise Hayes.

Wow the comment above is awful. I visited this salon a couple of years ago and have not been back due to there poor customer service and most importantly the crap job they did on my hair. The stylist first of all washed my hair for too long, which caused pain in my neck when I told her this she said it need to be done. Then she cut it too short and did a blow dry which quite frankly my little siter could have done a better job. If you want your hair done in that area go to Jimmy cambells, I have never had a bad experience there.

I was very disappointed with the service I received at hype. The stylist was ruse and pushy and seemed very limited in offering ideas for natural hair stylists. She insisted that I have my hair cut down to three inches and ear it as an afro. When I said that I didn’t want a permanent afro maybe just for parties ect she told me in full view of customer and other staff that some people are too afraid to be black and that if I got a wave or texturised my hair 'white' people would still be able to see that I am black. I comment that I felt was unrelated and uncalled for. The other stylist did not bat an eyelid so I’m assuming that this kind of attitude towards clients in not unusual. I will not be visiting hype again, if not for the rudeness but for their £115 to wash my hair and comb it up into an afro.
