A traditional Father & Son business of the sort that's non-existent today. In good times, I've been able to go in and buy 3 suits at a time, and in bad times I've been able to just get old clothes altered and repaired to give them a new lease of life and keep the wardrobe going until good times return! Chris and Dean are always welcoming and you can tell they have a very loyal Clientele. You're treated like Royalty irrespective of whether you're having trousers finished or buying 5 full bespoke suits. Top tip: Their Roy Robson suits are 'off the rack' but with some subtle alterations look very good indeed. They listen to their Customers and always offer good advice. Try them out and see for yourself!
Found some of the comparisons to M&s and Lewin rather odd. Copperfield's is in another league entirely. I mentioned their shop in Crombie a couple of weeks back and was met sage nodding of heads. It's a great shop and if, like myself, you can't stand the modern thing for everything being about two sizes too small, you'll probably like what they've got on offer as well. Been shopping in Copperfield's for over five years and never had anything but top-notch service.
I was recommended this tailors by a friend of mine. I needed a quality suit for a big occasion. A very pleasant experience, chatting to Chris and Dean whilst being fitted for the suit. I will definitely be returning, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Fantastic service from Chris and Dean at copper fields both these chaps know the tailoring trade inside out from suit selection to alterations can’t praise them highly enough
Went in for a suit and came out with so much more. Which could have been down to taking the wife in there with me. However the service was top notch and the quality of the goods is very high. The guys know what they're talking about, give sound advice and can provide alterations at an impressive speed. I'm certainly very happy with my experience at Copperfields. I'll be visiting again.
The whole experience was pleasing - Chris has an impressive range of suits/blazers for slim/athletic builds, and most importantly; nearly all suits arer sold with two pairs of trousers.
I left with a three piece tweed suit which is being adjusted for nearly no extra cost.
Copperfield is a good entry for 30's executives who value good, honest tailoring but without Savile Row
cost.
I've been buying suits from Chris at Copperfield for at least a decade. I'm still wearing the suits I bought from him 10 years ago and I'm still buying from him now. I'm 6'4", so its not easy buying suits that actually fit on the high street. You can buy cheaper suits at M&S or TM Lewin or many other places, but they won't be as well cut and they won't last as well. Plus, every now and then at sale time you can get an absolute steal. I'm now in the wharf, but I still schlep back to moorgate for these guys.
A most pleasant shopping experience on short visit from Dublin recently. Bought 2 suits, alterations made and suits dispatched to me in Ireland within 3 working days. Excellent service and staff could not have been more helpful or friendlier. Will definitely shop in Copperfield again.
Extremely poor service, staff were rude and arrogant. The finish of the tailoring was distinctly below average with no regard for the knock on effects of any changes, I believe this was to induce further changes. They were also overpriced (at least £15 higher per alteration then any other tailor).
I purchased a suit from Copperfield after having consistently walked past the shop. I was not disappointed and do disagree with the negative comments below. Excellent service, product and heck, even getting an older jacket of mine adjusted as part of the service. all suits come with 2 trousers. A++
Thought I'd add my tuppence worth: I've been using Copperfield for years for alterations - they have done work for me ranging from shortening trousers to basically re-cutting a whole suit I bought elsewhere in the sales, and was far too big. Am very satisfied and am having them make me some suits now.
I saw one of the other reviews mentions some delays in getting stuff done - personally I've found the opposite. They turn orders around in a few days, where many a tailor would take weeks. That said, it's not cheap - but if you want things doing properly it's worth paying for. Speaking of which the main point is they get stuff done and do it well. I've had the odd time when I've brought in a load of different things to be altered and they've forgotten to do one part, but they have not quibbled about getting it sorted out (once I recall, the tailor downstairs managed to do this while I waited).
Someone else commented on the lack of time the staff spend with you - agreed, when it's busy it's a bit hectic in there but if you want the Savile Row experience, go to Savile Row and pay twice as much...
Two years ago I bought two suits from Copperfield. They were both altered to fit and have been well used with little sign of wear. Recently i returned because I was after a double breasted traditional DJ which i couldn't find anywhere else. Copperfields did not have one in stock but made a call, it came through the following day and bingo! From my point of view good value suits from people who give you time and know hat they are talking about. Totaally disagree with poor reviews on this page!
I bought a couple of suits from Copperfields 8-10 years ago. One is still going strong (in fact i am taking it back to have some 'age related' alterations done tomorrow). I have been looking to buy a new suit for a few weeks but now work near Tower Bridge so Copperfields was a bit of a trek. I tried all the usual outlets and was disappointed by the range available, quality and service so I gave up and travelled to Moorgate. I was in the shop 10 minutes, found exactley the suit I wanted, agreed on adjustments to be made, paid and left within 10 minutes. I collected it two days later (with 2 pairs of trousers) and it is a perfect fit. Service and quality is faultless in my opinion and I can think of no reason to go anywhere else ever again. Highly commended.
I brought 2 suits from here despite the review comments on this site, I must say it’s the best service / suit experience I have had.
The suits are well made and fit perfectly. I will be returning very soon.
Something tells me the other comments are from rival shops around the area.
Purchased a standard suit from here with two pairs of trousers for day-to-day use. When I went to pick it up they had only fitted one pair of trousers and completely forgotten about the second pair. A week later and they had produced the second pair of trousers, but this time the wrong fit and model, a week later and I'm still waiting for them. Three weeks to pick up a suit that was practically off-the-shelf? Do me a favour! Oh, and I still don't have those trousers...
Also agree with the other reviewer regarding the management and service. Very disappointing after they came recommended by a colleague - the suit is fine (what I have of it - hence three stars and not one) but the shenanigans have put me off going back again.
I bought a suit from Copperfield, I felt very rushed and the tailoring was not done very well, it wasnt fitted properly and I now have to spend more money to get it tailored correctly. I thought the Manager was rude and wouldnt recommend to buy your suit from these people. You pay good money for good suits, you deserve good service.
I have bought 2 suits in Copperfields over the last 2 years, and find the service given by the staff helpfull and they seem to give honest advice. The suits are good quality for the price and look good too!.
