Over the past three years I have been making purchases from Duo Dance in Herne Hill of Ballroom dance shoes for a dancer in Barbados. The gentleman who answered the phone and served me in the store was always very helpful & courteous. Giving advice regarding best products, ordering in sizes for me to pick up at a later date(he rang me back to let me know when they arrived in store) and even on reclaiming tax at customs. I also recommended the store to several people who were also satisfied with their shopping experiences.

My daughter attends ballet school locally. I bought all her uniform here. The gentleman who served us was very curt when I asked him if her shoes were a good fit. When he saw I was upset he apologised.
I returned to buy a ballet bag, and last week some ballet hairclips. I took them out of the packet and two were broken. I went into the shop to show him. He told me they must have been trodden on. I asked if he was suggesting that I had done so, he said yes he was. I was absolutely astonished at his attitude. I felt intimidated and very upset. They could improve by valuing their customers.

I had a similar experience to the first reviewer! I just went to buy a ballet uniform and when I was talking to the owner about sizes he seemed to become very impatient with me. I paid for my things left the shop and on the way back home I noticed that the socks I had purchased were dirty!! I umed and arred about returning them as they were only £3 but because of his attitude towards me I decided to return them, he didn't like it at all and tried to intimidate me by saying this has never happened is X number of years they have been open but reluctantly gave me a new pair!!! He really does seem to dislike his job! We won't be going back!

I'm afraid I had a similar experience to the other reviewer.

I'm a local mum of two under fives, trying to buy a ballet outfit for my 3 year old. After expressing my desire for a non acrylic wrap cardigan, as I don't feel they wash well. The proprietor became rude and ignored me. He made a big point of saying that he felt everyone else needed to be served first in a way I felt was quite vindictive, despite me and my two under fives being in his shop for over 30 mins.

I feel so upset by his behaviour to me, that I will never shop there again, which is a shame as my little girl loves her ballet class and I prefer to buy locally. Viva la internet..

Hi and please return to Duo Dance! The shop is now under new management. We have created a wonderful new shop and the new staff will make both you and your children welcome. Don't shop on line - support your local shop and see just how it has changed since September 2015.

Great range of stock and a local shop and I love suporting locals. But with all the snow we had recently I was unable to drive there so tried to purchase several things online.

When their website failed to process the purchase I called the shop. To say they were unhelpful was an understatement! I'm not at all sure the chap I spoke to knew what was on his own website or what a website was. As well as telling me the site has had an online purchase facility for the last 15 years (!!) he created a new line in rudeness that means none of my team will be purcasing their things there again.

I'd strongly recommend the people running the shop take a look at their own site so they at least know what's on it.

And if you want to buy anything, I would hope the face to face service is better than I received over the telephone.

9th May 2011 - I have only now become aware of this customer's complaint which I feel is unjustified as Duo Dance has a very busy and successful website supplying dance shoes to customers throughout the world on a regular basis. We frequently receive emails from them praising our speedy delivery and saying that our website is a very straightforward and easy one to follow.

If this customer encountered a problem when trying to order online from us, then she could not have followed the instructions which are clearly indicated on each item and each page.
Sometimes however credit card payments are refused by WorldPay if there is a problem with the card and if this is the case then an order is refused and will not go through the system.

Regarding telephone conversations taking place in our London store, our staff do their best to be as helpful as possible. If staff were deliberately rude to customers we would not have maintained a very successful business for some thirty years.
