50% of the staff very efficient. 50% definitely needs to be retrained. 3 of them wear mask very difficult to hear. They need to be out side at the self service where they can clearly articulate themselves. Long queue lunch time and the evening. Definitely they have to do something about this. Most of the time machine left unattended , lady disappears. Good location they can do better.

I really want to appreciate the staff of great Portland post office for their help in getting my BRP
When I visited the post office for the collection of my BRP they told me it was not ready then
They tried all they could to check if it was really available for collection but nothing was there. They collected our numbers me and my family and promised to call us once they receive the BRP
Since then they have been updating us concerning it
So today I received a call from them that our BRP is available for collection
Am so happy now and I want say a big thank you to the staff of great Portland post office
God bless you for your service

At around 10am today at Great Portland Street PO, I asked the customer service person for the cheapest way to send my parcel, (a book). He put my parcel on the 'automatic postage machine' scales, entered the 'packet' size and told me it would be £5.90.
I was shocked and told him I'd posted copies of this book several times and it was always £4.41, and said the only additional weight was a greetings card inside. He apologised, and said the new automatic postage machine, despite being hugely expensive was not very reliable. He said I could take it to another till if I wanted but the queue was long, so I asked him to check it again...

He said it is probably because of the postal rates increase since April. I was incredulous and asked if it was reasonable for something to jump from £4.41 to nearly £6, but the calculator came up £5.90 again so I said I'd pay it under protest, but that I would use a courier next time because for that price it would be delivered the very next day.

As soon as I got home I checked with my usual calculator. The price I'd been given was for FIRST CLASS stamps. The standard parcel price was...£4.41!
I don't blame this man as he was only telling me what he understood to be the case. However I AM steaming because that machine is obviously not geared to giving the customer full options - a sneaky and underhand profit generator. I feel cheated and angry and I want an apology.

The increase means I cannot donate any profit from this book to the Macmillan Charity for whom I am a registered fundraiser.
I've sent this complaint to the Royal Mail and will update the situation if I hear from them.
