I am staying in the very nice Marriott County Hall Hotel in Westminster overlooking Big Ben and Parliament.
I am traveling for about 3 weeks but only packed enough clothes for a week so was planning on cleaning them a couple times on this trip instead of lugging around way too many clothes.
So I Googled Laundries and Launderettes in the area and I found this one and Red and White Laundry at 59 The CUT. Since Simons and Sons was closer (only a 10 minute walk) I figured I would give it a try.
Today is Sunday and I called the concierge in the Marriott and they said both places were closed Sunday and they have sent other customers there in the past and they came back with their clothes and that I would be better off cleaning them at the hotel. SHOCKING RESPONSE, I know.
Much to my AMAZEMENT, the bloody place was actually open as advertised from 10AM to 5PM on Sunday. Even better, I could use the machines myself or have the nice lady working there do it all for me for 15 pounds!
So I dropped them off at 11AM and came back at 2PM to have everything clean as a whistle and wonderfully folded while I had brunch and went sightseeing.
I then did the math on what the hotel would have charged me and brace yourselves but here is the ledger:
Laundry Quantity Price Total
Dress Shirts 9 £8.00 £72.00
T-Shirts 11 £5.00 £55.00
Boxers 7 £3.20 £22.40
Shorts 2 £5.00 £10.00
Trousers 1 £8.50 £8.50
Socks 5 £2.70 £13.50
The only difference is the hotel would have pressed my 9 shirts but I am more than happy to iron them for the £166.60 savings!!!! Besides, they are going to get wrinkled anyway when I pack them back up and head out to Germany Tuesday night so essentially all I have to do is iron one of them!
