I LOVE this book shop it is absolutely my favourite one I have EVER been to! There is a great selection of books, all the staff are always extremely kind, they will advise and efficiently order books. They give out loyalty cards and they love dogs as well as children! Absolutely brilliant!

I like this bookshop because there are all my favourite books in it. I am reading 9+ books (I am 7yrs old) and they are all funny. I like to spend my pocket money here. I like it here because there are adult books and children's books. It is the closest bookshop to my house and my best books come from it. I wish to have a book for Christmas. I love this shop!

I used to love this bookshop but won't be going back after my experience today. It draws you in as a child friendly bookshop with a large section of the shop dedicated to children's books with a chair for reading stories to your kids and a strategically placed toybox but today was about the third time I've been in with one of my children since it's been taken over by new owners and the man behind the counter clearly cannot tolerate children. My son and I were happily browsing and discussing the books then the guy waited until my back was turned and SNATCHED a book out of my two year old's hands who came up to me almost in tears saying 'that man snatched my book'. I tried to play it down because I had several gift purchases I needed to make that visit for birthday presents. I was made to feel very uncomfortable by his huffing and puffing behind the counter everytime my child picked up a book. Then as I was about to take my purchases to the till my son accidently knocked a few books off the shelf which I dashed to put back and the man practically EXPLODED across the room pushing my son out of the way and angrily putting the books back. !!!???!!!! Needless to say I put my books back on the shelf and left. What a shame - considering how rare it is to have an independent bookshop on the high street these days that they treat their genuine customers that way. Perhaps he was having a bad day. Perhaps we were the umpteenth family in that afternoon and he'd clearly had enough. But I'm sorry - if you don't want kids in the bookshop - DON'T PORTRAY YOURSELF AS CHILD FRIENDLY. I'm off to Amazon.
