Took my bike in for a full service a few months back.

Druid called and said the chain and therefore cassette, needed changing. Agreed if equivalent parts were available.Later that day my bike was returned cleaned and with the front brake blocks (cheaply) replaced, though the cables and rear brakes were left. The cassette had been replaced by one of inferior quality and spec (12-25T to replace a 12-28).The front quick release wasn't properly shut and, incredibly, the chain had been incorrectly threaded through rear derailleur. Charged about £100. Much more quality control needed at that pri

If you like your customer service laminated in utter snootiness then this is your place. As a new cyclist I'm completely unaware how to correctly measure a tire to buy the correct inner tube, some advice would be nice. Huffy advice was given through gritted teeth and I was made to feel like I'd asked for local tourism information. I'm all for supporting local business which is why this was my first port of call. Next time I'll Google for the nearest Halfords.

Possible improvements: Cater for all levels of cyclist in a friendly and accepting way.

There is a lot of recycling of old bicycle parts and you can even get your own bike built or take an active interest. Thor and his team are skilled and helpful, if sometimes. I have had 3 x bikes from them (two got stolen in 2011, but I guess that is penalty for living in SE1 - the new £40 Abus level 9 lock I got from Evans was completely useless by the way) and done some repairs. Each time they have been great. Druid is quirky, a monument to the quixotic chivalry of London's roaming wild knights on bikes, and Thor takes an active interest in lots of what is going on around London as well as inventions (electric bikes, etc.) and people.

I have previously had my biker serviced at Druid cycles and it's been OK - cheap and cheerful.

Last month I took it in for servicing and a rear skewer problem. They fixed the rear skewer but their remained probs with the brakes and front changer. I took it back again and then the trouble began. After going back to collect the bike I found it still hadn't been fixed. I returned a week later after phoning and hearing it was ready to collect. I arrived at the workshop and the boss wasn't there and the bike wasn't roadworthy: rear brakes out of adjustment and the workshop had lost my Abus lock and security cable. I sent the proprietor a text to say I wasn't happy (he wasn't at the workshop). He the rang me and was pretty abusive and put the phone donw without letting me say a word.
I shall not use Druid cycles again.

It was love at first sight when I came across Druid Cycles, squatting beneath the railway arches between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. The brightly painted signs and quirky DIY bike carts lounging outside make the place truly intriguing.

I guessed the workshop would be filled with anarchistic hippies but what I discovered was far more reassuring, if a little unfamiliar. The guys crowded into Druid Cycles are proper mechanics - a refreshing change from the high street store workers who often care more about the model and make of a bike than its functionality.

Most fascinating is the gentleman who sits at a large sewing machine, stitching beautiful leather saddles, peeking out over his spectacles like a Dickensian cobbler. Bicycle paraphernalia adorns every square inch of wall and a viking style helmet hanging from the ceiling completes the scene.

On this first occasion my wheel was wobbly – it needed to be trued. This was done on the very same afternoon at an incredibly low price (I’d inquired earlier at Evans, whose quote had made my stomach turn). Ever since I’ve always been delighted with the speed, price and quality of repairs.

Druid Cycles offers a range of new and old bikes to buy. There’s something for everyone, from top-end racers to standard city push bikes. The shop has a strong environmental ethic of reusing and recycling bike parts. Cyclists can custom build their bikes from new or used parts. For riders who want something really unique, the shop specialises in airbrushed and hand painted bikes. Designs range from ancient symbols to football team colours.

Another unusual quirk is the recently established mobile bike rescue service. From 4 til 8 everyday distressed cyclists can call out the Druids, who will shoot to the rescue in bizarre medieval dress, fully equipped with tools to fix the most common problems.

Call 07551 016 380 (number may change in future- check website), or DRUIDCYCLESMOBILE from Skype!

I only picked this bicycle repair shop as it was close by and Halfords couldn't do what I wanted - however I am delighted I did - it is a TRUE workshop with lots of oil and grease and spare parts hung on the wall . . .
I dropped in my bike at 11am and it was ready the same day at 2:30pm - they always try to do the same-day service which is fab.
Well priced and full of character this is now my chosen repair shop.
They special in customizing old bikes and do it well - I had a new bike and they were more than happy to take it on!!
Also they tuned up my bike while repairing it - no extra cost
Have your say
