Portobello Pet Shop

My mum lives locally and she knows the woman who runs the pet shop. My mother bought me a hamster from here last Christmas but we didn't have a cage for it as yet, however I was able to pay and they were more than happy to keep him until I get him and up to this day I couldn't be more in love with him than when I first met him. The staff are really friendly and they also have day care for pets if you're going on holiday they would look after them for you.. great business, loving staff, great advice. What more could you ask for.. don't listen to these people that gave this place a bad review. Trust me this place is great

I have been shopping at Portobello Pet shop for years. It is an excellent family run business. The family communicate with each other - for example I ask the son today for some particular fish and left my number, I happened to need to pop back in there a few hours later and his mother already knew about the order and was most helpful. They are honest and clearly knowledgeable about a wide variety of pet issues. I live locally and always like to shop locally if the businesses are good at what they do. The truth is I would travel to shop at the Portobello Pet Shop!

EXCELLENT pet shop..staff extremely helpful and friendly! We have been customers there for years..I can only think that the person who gave this shop a poor review must have been having a bad day themselves or something!!!

I totally agree with the positive comments concerning this pet shop!! I have used this shop since it first moved to the premises and have never encountered any negative aspects!! The staff are not only friendly but are always polite and extremely helpful....if they haven't got it, they will point you towards someone else who has or will do all they can to get it for you!! More importantly - the shop is clean and orderly and the animals are healthy and well looked after!!

And - in ALL the years I've been wandering into the shop with kids in tow purely to view the animals....we have NEVER been ushered out or made to feel unwelcome!! I would - and have repeatedly - recommend this pet shop to anyone looking for pet supplies or a new little addition to the family!!

Totally disagree with the below criticism, i have been a customer at this shop for years and have found the staff friendly and more than willing to help. They have the cheapest prices than other petshop around the area and have the most lovely cat roaming around.

The two posts seem to have been written by the same person because they both have identical number of posts and joined on exactly the same date. Rather sad agreeing with your own post.

I agree with the post above...unhelpful staff...limited stock...worth a try sometimes as its close but that's about it.

Small shop with limited stock. For some reason they have a few animals on display of which none were for purchase and if you look to long will be chased out.

Good for urgent need but otherwise prices and unfriendly staff make bug chains more attractive options.
