I feel this is a constructive comment to make Tomato aware that they should not cancel on customers 1 hour before their appointment. This has happened to me 3 times and other friends several times. This forum is to comment on service and it is fair to say that their service could be improved by placing back up 'on call' staff to ensure that cancellations are not so frequent.

I had a cut yesterday. It was my 2nd time and not the last. I used to have my cut in post places...big mistake. Had a great experiance. Did not wait a minute for the appointment and within 30 mins was all done. Very professional. I have short fine hair so no need to spen an hour on it like in other places!

Excellent service. Excellent hair colour cut & finish - price shocked me at the end. I have long hair and for all that mentioned above i paid only £55! Highly recommend! Usually i go to "posh" places, but after a visit in tomato i would be def coming back here.

After reading mixed reviews I was not sure if I should try Tomatoe or not. I'm happy I did. Yes the music is loud, yes there is an incense, but my hair looks great! I only had a cut and I'm really happy with it. And it was only £25 so I'm even more happy.

Great, Emma did my hair today, she did a great half head of highlights and a cut- by far one of the best hair do's I've had in a while and very reasonable! Have already recommended to friend

Today I called Tomato to make an appointment and I could not hear what the person there was saying because of the music playing soooooo loud!
I asked the lady on the other side of the phone if she could put the music volume down a bit until we finish the booking and she said "My boss doesn't allow me", then I asked to speak to "The Boss" then, but, he made an excuse to not talk to me...music stayed extremely loud..After all is Tomato a hairdresser salon or a Night club?

Have read a few negative reviews about this place but decided to give them a go after a friend recommend them and was glad that I did. Had my hair highlighted and cut by Mercedes and am more then happy with the result and at £25 for a cut and £45 for a full head of highlights they offer great value for money. Previous reviewers have commented in the music and yes it is a bit loud but I was still able to hold a conversation with Mercedes without having to raise my voice.

I went to Tomato a few weeks ago on the advice of a friend. Shortly after entering the salon a lovely young lad sat me in a chair and offered me a cup of tea and a magazine. He asked if he could do anything to make me more comfortable and then took me over to wash my hair (He did a top job here too!!)

Both him and my stylist made my visit one I shall definitely repeat, though something that disappointed me was the way he was treated by the people in charge who didn't seem to do anything.

I have now been to Tomato 4 times, 3 for highlights and once for a haircut, and I can safely say I have never been disappointed. No, it's not a salon which boasts exceptional customer service, but you can expect a choice of drinks, a wide selection of magazines, and a hair stylist who really listens to what you want. The place itself is nothing special - the decor is a bit naff and there is a slightly overpowering smell of incense - but if you're looking for a cheap salon with great results, this is the place to come. For a student like me, it's a gem in London, and I'd highly recommend it

I'm writing this review as a method of anger management.

I've been to tomato once and got a good hair cut from a guy in his mid 30's to 40 and it cost me £15 which was excellent value. That was episode one.

I then rebooked at the same time for 5 weeks later. The day before that booking i received a voicemail saying that the booking was cancelled and ring to rebook. This is where the problem started. I rang and there were no spaces for ages and the lady on the other end of the phone was less than helpful in helping me try to rearrange. Anyway this was painstakingly achieved.

On the day of the booking I couldn't quite remember what time i had booked, was it 11am or 11.30am, so without a text confirm being received (usually the case i have been assured) i rang tomato at 11.30am. No answer. I rang again at 9.45am no answer. And again at 10am, this time it was engaged.11.05 engaged, you get the jist. I decided to head down for the appointment at 11.30 and when i got there i was told my appointment was at 10am and that i was 30 minutes late. The australian lady on the desk told me i could rebook and that there was nothing she could do. No apology. I told her i had been trying to ring for the past hr and couldn't get through 'oh that's because i took the phone off the hook as there was something i had to do'. No apology. I then walked out. Once outside, thinking about it i decided to return 'can i speak tot he manager please' i said, 'i am the manager' her retort. 'i'm not very happy, i've had to rebook before, i couldnt confirm the booking and there has been no apology for taking the phone off the hook', 'oh right well you were 30 minutes late, i'm very sorry but there's nothing i can do'. I rebooked but am am in two minds over whether to attend.

Clearly tomato is very popular, however i suspect this is down to the cheap price/but decent value hair cuts and has absolutely nothing to do with customer service or customer loyalty which is q

Beware!

Nice people and all but I asked for short at the sides with a parting and came out with some extreme Nathan Barley style undercut. I'd taken my glasses off while she was cutting, then when she was finished it was slicked down, so it wasn't until I got home I realised what a monstrosity it was. I looked like a total prat. I'm really angry because it was cut so close at the side and so long on the top now I've had to cut it really really short myself. It's not what I asked for and now there's little I can do about it. I have to walk around with a crew cut until it grows back. If you go here be sure to very slowly describe exactly what you want (as if you're talking to a toddler), watch them like a hawk and check carefully before you leave.

Tomato salon is great. I have been going there for a year now and am very happy with the two Australian girls that do my hair. My last vist was not such a pleasant vist as the man who did my hair did a terrible job. I had to return and get it fixed by someone else. I will stick with tomato and the australian girls they always make me feel very welcome and do a good job

I have just booked an appointment to get my hair cut here for the 2nd time. And I would keep going back again and again. The prices are more than reasonable, the service is always with a smile, and my hairdresser (Tamara) paid particular attention to detail. Also, they served wine... granted not the best wine I had ever had, but better than nothing. Whats more, I left with one of the best half a head of highlights and cuts I had ever had... Brilliant! Tomato here I come! x

I have been here a few times. It is very reasonably priced at Tomato and every time I have walked out the salon extremely pleased with my hair. It's tru the atmosphere isn't relaxing but if you just want a good cheap hair do then I would definitely recommend this place.

I have been here four times and always get my haircut and a 3/4 head of highlights. The first two times I had the same australian girl who did a fantastic job, however I think she may have left as I havn't seen her in the store since. The last two times have been fairly average. Often I have felt as if they have overbooked the salon as I have been left in the corner and moved about so they can fit extra people inbetween my cut and highlights. My most recent visit I felt as if I had to be extra nice to the hairdresser as she wasn't in a good mood and for a great portion of the time she was chatting to the other hairdresser while doing my hair. I also had to trim a patch which she forgot to cut. However the price is great so I can understand why at times the service is a bit average. I would have gone back if I wasnt told to phone back later to make my booking as someone was using the computer. Overall it is a bit hit and miss, the price is great and there is a chance of getting a great haircut.

I like this place, it is very reasonably priced, especially for highlights. The music is a little loud but everyone was very friendly towards me and a nice glass of wine was very quickly placed before me. They have done a very good job with my highlights and I have used them twice now and will be going again very soon.

Went to Tomato today. The service was rushed and I felt confused as to where they wanted me; they'd swap me from the trainee to the hairdresser without saying anything and the staff didn't seem to have a set way of dealing with their customers.

The trainee girl barked a few slightly awkward compliments about my haircut which I didn't believe because it looked ridiculous as well as boring (quite an accomplishment). There were built up stores of hair in the corners of the room and under the pipes (which I saw because I had to stare at that spot for so long). I asked if they could make it slightly less poofy (it was weirdly voluminous)and they told me to let it dry naturally at home and asked if I'd like some wax: I said yes, if they thought it was best, and then watched as they made my hair look like it hadn't been washed in two years, if I lived in the underground.

I'd say it was ok if I'd paid half of what I had, but ok is all it is: if you're nice.

Had this on recommendation from a friend, but sadly my experience wasn't that good. I like to relax whilst having my hair cut but the music's too loud and is more suitable for a club; very disinterested male staff (eg getting me a drink seemed too much) not a smile in sight from anyone (bar the sweet young receptionist) and not the best cut i've had. Really wouldn't bother with this place again.
