If you want a salon where the hairdressers actually turn up on time and do your hair properly do not go to hairmax. The first time one one of them left my tracks showing. The second time she layered only one side of my hair. I went back to ask for the pet side and she v told me to come back at 9.30. I work late so this was early for me but i went anyway. Waited for half an hour before 'aunt' arrived. There shop told me that the girl would soon come. I asked if she could call her and she said no. 1.5 hours later I'm still waiting. This place went downhill after their boss passed.beware!

I've been to this salon for about 4 times and I've never regretted doing so. And I'm very hard to please when it comes to my hair but ive loved all the styles ive had here even when I get diff hair dressers to do it everytime. I'm suprised at the negative comments here maybe that was then back in 2010 cos I've started going in 2013. Sad for the lady who lost her hair, black pple and fried chicken, huh? Lol
I've not met any ques usually go midweek about midday and there's an ough staff to start my hair immediately.

The salon has always got a llllooooonnngggg queue, if you get there late (like 16:00) you get a rush job, hence they barely straighten your hair or take any pride in it as they are understandably tired/hungry. The staff are very rude and do not listen but you have to make them listen by being persistent and strong minded not rude. they often cainrow your hair/stitch it to tight therefore you will find when you take it out your hair line seems to be receding/thining at the front. If your new beware of getting your hair done by newbie hairdressers as most of the 5star hairdressers have long been driven out due to disagreements with the owner. once a newbie did my hair (rhinna bob style) she couldnt cut the back and when she tried she was too stupid to put a cloak around me, most of the hair had gone through or was stuck in between the fabric of my clothes and it was the worst!!! so itchy and uncomfortable in summer aswell, i had to look for the nearest clothes shop but in the end went home in my vest.
However on a good day, you get there early (for opening time), request a good hairdresser (depending on what style your doing)usually the people who've been there longest; Faye, Sasha, Sophie or Rackel. Everyone else is there learning so don't bother with them. tell them from the start what and how u want itnand make sure its right b4 u leave, but once I went back after a week as it just wasn't right but she rectified it well aand I loved it like every other finished product they do 4 me. Get there early and get out otherwise it is VERY stressful

Ive been here a few times now and2be blunt, If Faye or Fatima arent doing your hair...DONT BOTHER!!!
If you've spent money on some expensive hair... ASK FOR FAYE do not let them palm you off with one of the others... YOU WILL REGRET IT!
Big Girl did my hair (sorry, didnt catch her name, but shes the big1), its expensive hair, i asked for faye but she wasnt coming in that day, i asked for some1 that could fold and sew around the wefts as its hair you can use over and over, not the stuff you get in the hair shop.... "oh ye, Big Girl can do all that"
the weave was sewn so crap... the top part where my leave out was all uneven.
she caught lots of the weave hair where she was sewing in
Much of my leave out hair was also sewn up. she couldnt even b bothered2use the end of her comb to pull it out. i have major matting and breakage
as im taking this off my head ive noticed she has sewn through the wefts - i am definitely going2have to seal my wefts now.
there are so many uneven and messy stitches it is so hard to take the hair down
When Faye has done my hair, it has been a breeze 2take down. initially where the final stitch at the end of the hair is always quite hard to remove but once thats out its plain sailing.... BGs method has my arms aching from where its taking me so long.
not only can she NOT sew, Shes very rude and quite intimidating. If you use expensive hair (and im not talking about 30" milky way from PAKS, i mean indian, Wagmans, Extensions Plus, Bliss etc) dont let just anyone do your hair. Ask4 fay, if you cant see her, go elsewhere, i know its cheap@hairmax, but if you want hair on your head, and hair on your wefts you'll heed my words!
BTW im not surprised that one of the reviewers is balding, i would never let anyone here do any chemical procedure here, im not sure that they are even qualified!
and the place yes is filthy - just look at the skirting boards! after writing this, lol i dont kno if ill even go back

THE STYLISTS AT THIS SALON GAVE ME A BALD SPOT AFTER LEAVING A RELAXER ON MY HAIR WHILE SHE WENT OUT TO GO GET FRIED CHICKEN! THERE ARE NO SAFEGUARDS AT THIS SALON! STAY AWAY! The place was unsafe, dirty, there was a long line and the staff were extremely rude. This was especially true of the stylist who did my hair. While she was giving me a relaxer, she ran out of the salon to go to buy some fried chicken! She did this while the relaxer was still on my head! I have a very big bald spot near the front of my forehead and a lot of the hair on the back of my head broke off. My hair is now see-through, when I used to have lovely hair that was past my shoulders. I am very worried because the hair has not grown back months after this experience!
The place is also filthy - the bathroom was disgustingly dirty. Stay away! This place is not worth. I thought that this was a cheap salon, but I am going to have to pay a lot of money to get my hair back to the condition that it was in before I visited Hairmax.
The only reason that I gave it a single is because you are required to at least leave one. I would have given it a negative rating if the system on this site allowed me to do so!

From the face of it Hairmax seems to be the dream Afro Hair salon; with weaves as cheap as £20 and Oil treatments a mere £10, this is the black girls way to beat the recession and still look fly...isnt it?!... Wrong. Having been to Hairmax three times, i have yet to find another salon with customer service that sends shock waves to the system. On my third and final 'sentence' to Hairmax, the lady cornrowed my hair so tight, 3 weeks later my scalp was still in serious pain. I shant go into detail, but when i removed it there were scabs at the sides and back. Furthermore, my hairline was completely broken.
.....Hairmax is cheap, but it comes at a great cost!!
