Have a friend who is having treatment here and went to visit them today. She tells me of the fantastic care she has received throughout her various operations and treatment and couldn't speak highly enough of the whole hospital team. It appeared calm, clean and friendly when I went - looks like a model for the NHS!

I'm 27 years if age and a nurse. This hospital is amazing. Consultant MR Shieff is reassuring professional and and excellent at his practice. I've been discharged following a removal of a tumor in my head and had a plate fitted. Everyone has been amazing . Staff at every step are incredible. You are defiantly in safe hands at this hospital.

This hospital is amazing, treatment fantastic. I went to the National Hospital in August 2011 for removal of a benign brain tumour. This followed very bad experience at Royal Free Hospital.( I have worked in the NHS all my life I know what to expect). I was seen by Miss Grieve and her team and had surgery. I was treated promptly, was involved with all decisions ,and have had an amazing recovery, despite some initial complications. The hospital staff and wards were superb. I felt safe and was very well cared for. I am still under the care of this wonderful hospital and would not go anywhere els

I was admitted to the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery in 1997 for brain surgery in order to attempt to cure right-sided temporal lobe epilepsy, which I had had from the age of nine months as the result of a medical blunder. The staff at the National were absolutely fantastic - I was admitted on Wednesday 4th June 1997 and was taken into the operating theatre at 8:30am the next morning. Five hours later I came around from the op and was taken to the High Dependency Unit, and was discharged from the hospital five days later and things have been fine ever since. Pre-operatively it was very rare that I could truthfully say that I'd gone a whole week without a fit - since the op I went the full twelve months without an attack as requested by the D.V.L.A in order to get a full UK driving licence, and I am pleased to say that I am still seizure-free and have a much higher quality of life that I had pre-operatively. I've now got my driving licence and a fast car to go with it, something I'd wanted since I was a small boy. The NHS is often slated by a lot of people, but it's worth remembering that there are some first-class NHS Hospitals out there as well.

Finally, I'd just like to say a big thanks to Neil Kitchen and his team for the fantastic job they did when they operated on me. If it wasn't for them I'd probably still be having fits every week, but that is thankfully now a thing of the past.

i was a patient at the national in 1997 with ME, & all i can say is that the staff on nuffield ward & then Hughlings Jackson ward were amazing, i was very ill on admission & very underweight,& the care shown to me was exceptional. I have been well now for 12 years until 4 months ago & i believe the illness has come back. I am tomorrow asking for a referrel for the national as i believe they are the best there is. They not only got me back on my feet literally, but emotionally better as well. I can,t praise them enough The NHS at it,s best

My experience at this hospital was so appalling,I walked out. The nursing care was non existent, my emergency buzzer did not function, there was never a doctor when you requested one, tests were cancelled, or not carried out at all. In for 15 days, had 3 tests performed, two of which were unnesscessary as I had already had them, so they did not even bother to read my notes which I made the effort to take up with me with the results. I was suppossed to be on a special diet to build me up, as I was so underweight,I lost a further stone as no build up food arrived.Thank God I could get to Waitrose or I would have starved. Disgusting, will never return. Every-one involved in my so called treatment -that was non existent-should be ashamed. The doctors were as bad as the nurses- they knew what was going on and did nothing. The only time they showed any concern was when I walked out, and that was to save their own skin.A horrific experience, nothing has been resolved, I was shown not one result, and I am more ill now then before I went in. Bring back matrons, and make doctors show concern for their NHS patients, not only the paying private ones. Finally, send Gordon Brown to the The John Young Ward incognito and see what he then feels about the NHS. I am disgusted. Beds not changed, no pillowcases, no towels, t.v and radios and fans never functioned, and no body came to check - useless, in-iffecient and lazy.
