My children's prams wheel needed a new tube, and because he was the closest I did it there. He charged me 17 pounds for buying and putting in the tube! When I usually do it for 8 pounds!
Before he finished, he said your other wheels need a little air, and pumped each one a little and ended up charging me for that too! So my tire was fine when I finished which was good, but was definitely upset about how much I paid for it.

Since taking up cycling in London almost two years ago I have found out to my cost that this the last place you should take a bike for repair. The owner/proprietor has charged me for repairs that were not carried out, tried to sell me new parts when they could have been easily repaired. I am sorry to say that my views have been reinforced by unprompted opinion from fellow cyclists.

I have been working in London for the past 7 summers, and always bring (or rent or borrow) a bike. The folks at Cyclecare on Earls Court Road have always been extremely helpful, whether in helping me reassemble (or de-assemble) a bike I brought over from the US, or repairing a borrowed bike! Also, very reasonable prices for repairs!

I've been there today to fix the front brakes from a new bike bought at Halfords. I couldn't do it on myself properly. The guy told me when he saw the bike that the fork was put upside down and he wanted 45 pounds to assemble the bike. The fact is that the bike was already assembled except for this error (mine!) on the front fork. So I decided to fix myself and it really took 2 minutes (just unscrew it and turn to the right side!) That would have costed 45 pounds!!
It's not finished...unfortunately my tyre was flat so as I was still in front of the shop I decided to ask how much would have been to change it. One guy said 13.50. The boss said, no 15. And then ended up 15.50...Also this operation took very little: 10 minutes.
Really bad service to a client. I won't go there anymore.
