This is my closest bike store but in no way is this the reason I go there.
Since day one I've gone to this store for everything from helmets to locks to lights. The service is fantastic, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and don't look down on you for riding something not worth thousands of pounds.
I went in there this week looking for new lights, but came out with tightened brakes and a my potentially dangerous stem adjusted (I'm pretty sure that was it) without any mention of payment for it.
In fact it's so good, I'm going there now to look at new handlebars.

I always come to this shop over all the others in the area as I know I will great customer service and good value for money. On a couple of occasions now they have willingly sorted out some niggling little problem with my my bike for free. I'm also extremely happy with the tyres they fitted for me.

I find the reviews here to be a bit odd, as I have been into this shop quite a few times over the years and they have been nothing but nice, a few months ago my tyre was flat on the way home and they kindly let me use their pump and yesterday I had a problem with my chain on the way to somewhere and it was chucking it down with rain and I popped into to ask what was happening with the chain, they sorted it for me in two 5 secs, no charge. I was just looking up their phone no so I could book in a service when I saw these reviews and I am very surprised, and felt that I should write something in their defence

The only constructive thing I can say is that the staff here were quite quick to process the refund when it came to it, and that is the only reason that I even gave it a 3/10, otherwise it would have been much lower.
Apart from that, the staff in this shop are quite elitist, and don't seem to want to give you the time of day unless you are going to spend a lot of money in the shop; by the look of things. They certainly didn't want to give me any advice on trying to find an alternative cheaper solution to my problems. The general feeling I got is that I needed a whole new bike for what I wanted and guess what, they had just the right bike for me at a nominal fee of over 600 pounds!
Any competence they may have is hidden by the fact that they are unwilling to impart their advice to the shopping public. I have been in other bike shops, including other branches of the cycle surgery where the staff where much more helpful; and much more understanding of my particular problems.
This shop might be OK, if the staff were not driven by money.
A common motto for businesses is "no job too small", yet in this shop it seems that the unofficial motto is "no job too big"...
I will, sadly, not be using them again.
I will be using the nearby Holloway cycles and the Camden branch of cycle surgery, but not these guys.
The shop should be ok if you plan to get top of the range equipment (i.e. spend lots of money) but if you are trying to find cheaper solutions to your problems or get advice on how to carry out your own repairs, then this shop should be given a very wide berth.
