All In London Review
A perfect place for Foodies
Jamie’s store/café/cookery school amazes immediately; the look and functionality, the way the products are displayed and packaged, the materials and the different items of furniture that are used – everything is extremely well designed. Shelves carrying Jamie’s books, cooking utensils, wines, herbs and sauces cover most of the walls, while in the area closest to the entrance ready meals prepared according to Jamie’s recipes, are stacked in a huge fridge.
For fans of food and/or cooking, Jamie’s Recipease is the perfect place to go. Shop, find new recipes, or enjoy one of the cooking classes, like I did. They are a great way to learn how to prepare a delicious meal from scratch whilst having a laugh with your fellow cookery class students.
At the beginning of our class, we all gathered around the huge work station right in the middle of the shop, where up to 10 people can cook simultaneously. We shared a glass of wine and were introduced to Annegret, one of the kitchen pros who would cook our Thai Green Curry with us. Each class is such that you prepare a particular pre-determined dish; Thai Green Curry, Beef Wellington, Mozzarella Meatballs or Pork Belly amongst many others. Each of us standing at our personal work stations where knives, herbs and vegetables had already been laid out for us, started chopping onions, peeling ginger, grinding spices and marinating and cooking pieces of chicken. Annegret was a great teacher and she always made sure everybody had enough time to finish the current task before the group continued to the next step in the recipe. Just like Jamie Oliver, she was able to make cooking fun and gave us lots of great tips.
At the end of the cookery class, once everybody is done, you can either sit down and try the tasty dish you've created or you can take it home to share with your friends and family.
I’m not a great cook generally but I had a great time and was amazed by what a lovely curry dish I had created myself. I definitely recommend the cookery class if you want to try new recipes, learn a few new tricks and techniques or to simply enjoy cooking in the company of like minded people – Jamie Oliver’s Recipease classes are a fun way of learning new skills.
